Kotake and Koume are two witches who are said to be Ganondorf's surrogate mothers. Kotake can control ice, and Koume can control fire. When combined, they are referred to as Twinrova.

Ocarina of Time

When Link enters the Spirit Temple as a child, Nabooru convinces him to retrieve the Silver Gauntlets for her. He gets them, but before he can return to her, Koume and Kotake kidnap Nabooru. When Link returns to the Spirit Temple as an adult, they force him to fight the brainwashed Nabooru.

Link must then defeat them in a boss battle. In the first stage of the battle, he must reflect Kotake's ice beams at Koume and Koume's fire beams at Kotake. They will then merge to form Twinrova. Link must store three of the same elemental beam in his mirror shield, causing it to shoot back at Twinrova. She will collapse, giving Link a chance to damage her with his sword. After they have been defeated, they ascend to heaven while bickering.

Majora's Mask

Koume is in charge of the Swamp Boat Tour. Link first meets her in the Woods of Mystery. She is injured from an attack by the Skull Kid. In order to help her, Link must give her a bottle of Red Potion. She will then return to her job. If Link stops by, she will offer him one free boat ride for helping her.

Kotake runs the Magic Hags' Potion Shop, selling Red Potion, Green Potion, and Blue Potion. She will only sell the Blue Potion if Link has given her a Magic Mushroom within the current three-day cycle. If Link tells Kotake about Koume's injury, she will give him his first Bottle, filled with Red Potion. If she has already given Link a bottle, she will simply fill it with Red Potion for free.

Oracle of Ages/Oracle of Seasons

Kotake and Koume use Veran and Onox in an attempt to revive Ganon. Veran is used to light the Flame of Sorrow, and Onox is used to light the Flame of Destruction. The sisters then capture Princess Zelda in order to sacrifice her and light the Flame of Despair.

When Link enters the Room of Rites, he battles Twinrova in order to save Zelda. Similarly to the battle in Ocarina of Time, he must use his sword to reflect Kotake's attacks at Koume and Koume's attacks at Kotake. After a few hits, they will combine to form Twinrova. Link must hit her a few times with his sword, then shoot her with Scent Seeds. Once she is defeated, she will sacrifice herself in place of Zelda with the hopes of reviving Ganon. However, since she is not Zelda, Ganon is revived as a mindless beast.
