The Legend of Zelda Secret Rupees
The Legend of Zelda features many Secret Rupee Locations scattered across Hyrule. Secret Rupees come in three different denominations: 100 rupees, 30 rupees, and 10 rupees. This page shows the location of the Secret Rupee Locations in the First Quest, as well as the Secret Rupee Locations for the Second Quest further down.
First Quest
Amount: 100 rupees.
Location: Northeast corner.
Conditions: None.
- From the start screen head right one screen, up five screens, right five screens, up one screen, and right two screens.
- There is a hidden stairway at the top of this screen within the rocks. Move around the top just right of the entrance to the cave here and you'll go up to the next screen.
Amount: 100 rupees.
Location: Southeastern Hyrule.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head up one screen and right four screens.
- In the central trees, use the Candle to burn the one third from the left at the bottom.
Amount: 100 rupees.
Location: One screen right of the Lost Woods.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head up one screen and left five screens.
- Use the Candle to burn down the tree that is third from the top.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen southeast of Level 1: The Eagle.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head right 1 screen and up 3 screens.
- Use the Candle to burn down the tree in the top-right corner.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen northeast of Level 2: The Moon.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- From the start screen head right one screen, up five screens, and right five screens.
- Place a Bomb against the rocks at the top of the screen.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen northeast of Level 2: The Moon.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- From the start screen head right one screen, up five screens, and right five screens.
- Place a Bomb against the rocks at the top of the screen.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen east of Level 2: The Moon.
Conditions: None.
- From the start screen head right one screen, up five screens, right five screens, and down a screen.
- Tap the Armos on the right and it will awaken and move out of the way.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen south of the Lost Woods.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- From the start screen head up one screen, left four screens, down one screen, and left three screens.
- Place a Bomb against the rocks just right of the rigid area.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen northeast of Level 6: The Dragon.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- Exit the graveyard to the right and continue right another screen. Head up along the right side, then right two screens, up a screen, and left two screens.
- Place a Bomb against the top-left part of the Rocks.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen north of the start screen.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- From the start screen just head up one screen.
- Place a Bomb in the middle of the wall at the top.
Amount: 10 rupees.
Location: One screen southeast of Level 4: The Snake.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head up a screen, left two screens, up a screen, and right a screen.
- Use the Candle to burn the lone tree at the bottom-left.
Amount: 10 rupees.
Location: South Central Hyrule.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- Exit the graveyard to the right and continue right another screen. Head up along the right side, then right two screens, up a screen, and left two screens.
- Place a Bomb against the top-left part of the Rocks.
Amount: 10 rupees.
Location: One screen north of the Lost Woods.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head up a screen, left five screens, up a screen, and left a screen.
- Use the Candle to burn the lone tree at the bottom-right.
Amount: 10 rupees.
Location: One screen southeast of Level 4: The Snake.

- From the start screen head right four screens, up two screens, right alongside the top entrance, right another screen, up a screen, and right a screen.
- Tap the Armos on the right and it will awaken and move out of the way.
Second Quest
Amount: 100 rupees.
Location: Southwest Hyrule.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head up one screen, left four screens, and up one screen.
- Use the Candle to burn down the bottom-left of the three trees.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: South Central Hyrule.
Conditions: After obtaining the Whistle.
- From the start screen head right one screen, and up two screens.
- Play the Whistle on the screen to reveal the staircase.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen right of the Graveyard.
Conditions: None.
- Exit the graveyard to the right and head up a screen.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: One screen southeast of Level 1.
Conditions: After obtaining the Blue Candle or the Red Candle.
- From the start screen head right one screen and up three screens.
- Use the Candle to burn down the tree in the top-right corner.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: Northeastern Hyrule.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- From the start screen head right one screen and up five screens.
- Use the Candle to burn down the lone tree at the bottom-right of the central trees.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: Northeastern Desert.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- From the start screen head right one screen, up five screens, and right five screens.
- Place a Bomb against the rocks at the top of the screen.
Amount: 30 rupees.
Location: Northwestern Desert.
Conditions: After obtaining the Bombs.
- Exit the graveyard to the right and continue right another screen. Head up along the right side, then right two screens, up a screen, and left two screens.
- Place a Bomb against the top-left part of the rocks.
Amount: 10 rupees.
Location: North Central Desert.
Conditions: After obtaining the Whistle.
- From the start screen head right one screen, up five screens, and right three screens.
