The Shadow Crystal is an item in Twilight Princess. Once Link has completed the Lakebed Temple, he returns to the Lanayru Spring where Lanayru resides. Zant will eventually come and curse Lanayru into the Twilight Realm. He also creates a perilous orb to throw at Midna. However, Link attempts to defend Midna, but instead becomes hit by the ball, having it stuck to his head, thus being unable to return to his human form. Link does not directly use the item, rather, Midna uses it in conjunction with the Master Sword to transform Link into his feral form at will. The item is "obtained" after Link reaches the Sacred Grove and retrieves the Master Sword from its pedestal.
