"These fearsome monsters have lived in Hyrule since ancient times. They possess intense intelligence, resilience, and strength, making them amongst the most dangerous monsters in all the land. This is compounded by the fact that they have a natural resistance to all elements. You would be wise to challenge a Lynel only if you're very well prepared."

— In-Game Description

The Lynel is a common enemy found throughout Hyrule. They have the body of a horse, the torso of a man, and the head of a lion. Their high health pool and strong weapons make them a hard enemy to defeat. If you defeat them they give you a large reward of monster parts and arrows. If you are lucky you can get Lynel Guts. Lynel Guts can be used to upgrade the Barbarian Armor and the Soldier's Armor.
