Red ice is a special type of ice from Ocarina of Time which does not melt from normal fire, only if comes in contact with Blue Fire.
It is found only in:
- The Ice Cavern, where it forms a major obstacle
- The Water Trial of Ganon's Castle, which is a reprise of the Cavern; and in
- Zora's Domain, where the Zora Shop is walled in with red ice and King Zora is frozen solid in red ice,
Once unfrozen, King Zora will thank Link, and give him the Zora Tunic so he can venture into the Water Temple.
