The Korok Ceremony is an annual ceremony completed by the Koroks inside of Forest Haven along with the Great Deku Tree to celebrate the new year and help spread forests throughout the Great Sea. This ceremony is only performed in The Wind Waker, and requires special events in order for it to happen. To begin the ceremony, all the Koroks must gather around the Deku Tree to prepare for their long journey to somewhere in the sea. Makar plays a special song on his violin, causing the Deku Tree to sprout the seeds needed for the Koroks to plant new forests. The first time Link visits Forest Haven, however, one of the Koroks, Linder, comes rushing in from the sky and tells everyone that Makar has fallen into the Forbidden Forest. Because all the Koroks need to be present to receive their seeds, and Makar is a vital point to the ceremony, Link agrees to go and help find Makar inside the dungeon. After Link completes the dungeon and rescues Makar, the ceremony goes on as planned, with the Koroks flying off to build their forests. Almost every Korok goes with a seed, except for two. Makar must stay in Forest Haven to write the song needed for the next year’s ceremony. The other Korok, Hollo, stays to run his potion shop, Hollo's Forest Potion Shop.
