Hino is a character from Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

Hino can be found at the Dueling Peaks Stable. He spends most of his days and nights pondering about the Blood Moon.[1] If Link asks him about the Blood Moon, he will talk about its basic functionality on how monsters will come back to life.[2][3]

Link can also ask Hino about tonight's moon, and what he says will vary from day to day. [4]

As Hino is awake late each night, he does not go to bed until 3am. He sleeps in the stable, waking up each day around 12-noon. At that point he walks over to his spot, just outside of the stable pondering about that night's Blood Moon.

On nights due for a blood moon, Hino will get overly excited and will start to run around in a circle around the stable, celebrating the occasion with blood red text. When the moon begins to rise, and Link asks about tonight's moon, he will say "Tonight is the blood moon, at last..." If Link talks to Hino during a blood moon when the sky is turning red, it will turn blue briefly. After Link is done talking to him, the sky will turn back to red. [5][6][7]

Tears of the Kingdom

Hino can be found being held captive in a monster fort, located at the west end of the Passeri Greenbelt. His is continuing his life's work of researching the Blood Moon. After explaining that on some evenings, the moon rises full and red, causing defeated monsters to appear again. While doing his research, he got a bit too close and was captured by the monsters of the fort.[8] As a thanks for saving him, Hino will give Link a trio of meals, incluing some Salt-Grilled Meat, Sneaky Meat and Seafood Fry, and Fairy Tonic.[9][10]

Hino also gets caught and is held captive at the enemy base at the Farosh Hills. After defeating numerous enemies, Link can lift the cage up with Ultrahand to free Hino. As a thanks for saving him, he will award Link with some Salt-Grilled Mushrooms, a Hasty Fish and Mushroom Skewer, and a Hearty Elixir.[11]

Hino will comment about the moon before then running off.[12][13]

Hino also gets caught in an enemy camp at the Marblod Plain. When Link saves him, he thanks him for getting rid of the monsters, but tells Link once the blood moon rises, they will be back. He questions what exactly monsters are.[14] He'll reward Link with some Salt-Grilled Mushrooms. He'll then give Link a second dish, which is a Hasty Fish and Mushroom Skewer.[15] He'll also give Link a Hearty Elixir.[16] He'll then comment about the moon before running off.[17]

Hino is also held captive within the Boné Pond East Cave. If Link frees him, he will give Link some Salt-Grilled Meat, Sneaky Meat and Seafood Fry, and a Fairy Tonic.[18]

On days of the actual blood moon, Hino will be excited that it's coming.[19] He tells Link that the blood moon is calling, and that he thinks it's calling him.[20]
