Bari are recurring enemies in the Zelda series. They appear in A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Ages, and Twilight Princess.
Appearances
A Link to the Past
These enemies light up with electricity every few seconds, and if you attack them with your sword when they are in this state, you will take damage. They are easily defeated with the Hookshot. They appear in two variants, Blue and Red. The only difference is that the Red Baris will split into two smaller version called Biris when defeated.

These larger versions of the Biri (that look very much like a Metroid) are very easy really, their only attack is to sit in one place and spin around. The only catch is they usually appear by falling from the ceiling. A simple sword slash will hurt you, so you're better off using Deku Nuts to stun them or a quick Spin Attack. Once damaged, they will split into three Biri. Once Link has the Boomerang, he can use it to easily kill them. In general though, it's better to just avoid them altogether.
Oracle of Ages
Twilight Princess
Until you get the Clawshot, just swim away from these enemies. Use the Clawshot while the Bari isn't electrically charged to pull out it's brain. Then slash away to defeat the Bari.
