The Ball and Chain is the dungeon item of the Snowpeak Ruins, the fifth dungeon in Twilight Princess. It is used to break ice found throughout the dungeon as well as the land of Hyrule. The Ball and Chain is required to defeat certain enemies such as Freezards, Mini-Freezards and the boss of the Snowpeak Ruins, Blizzeta. It also makes defeating Chilfos much easier. The Ball and Chain can also be used to destroy objects,[2] such as suits of armor.[3]
