When landing from a jump, can be used to slow down Link's speed, preventing injury from the fall.

The Sailcloth is an off-white sheet with a blue Loftwing symbol on the front. Zelda, one of the students at the Knight Academy and daughter to Gaepora, one of the headmasters, wears this as a shawl. Link receives this as a prize after winning the Bird Riding Ceremony. The uses of the Sailcloth are simple, Link can use it to safely navigate his was to the surface of the many islands around Skyloft, or when swan diving into one of the three provinces.

Zelda Wii U

The Sailcloth makes a reappearance in the upcoming Zelda Wii U. Link is able to jump off large cliffs, and then use the sailcloth to glide himself downward. It is very reminiscent of the Deku Leaf from The Wind Waker.
