Princess Ruto

Princess Ruto is the princess of Zora's Domain. As a kid she is stubborn and when Ganondorf curses Jabu-Jabu, she is swallowed by him. Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly you find her and she will say that she always goes there, but that this time there are dangerous creatures inside. She will say she doesn't need your help and will fall down a hole. When you go down the hole you have to talk to Princess Ruto twice to get her to accept your help. You carry her through the dungeon until you find the Zora's Sapphire. She takes it and then is taken to another level of the dungeon. Link then has to fight his way to the Boss Chamber. When you defeat Barinade, the dungeon's boss, she will appear once more. Back outside Jabu-Jabu she will give you the Spiritual Stone of Water and tell you it is an engagement ring, much to Link's dismay.

When Link comes back seven years later, he finds Zora's Domain is frozen. After going through the Ice Cavern, Sheik will explain what is going on and tell you that he rescued Princess Ruto from under the ice. She then went to the Water Temple to deal with the problem. Inside the Water Temple you encounter her once more. She asks if you've forgotten that she's your fiancée and proceeds to teach you how to raise and lower the water levels in the Temple. You don't see her again until after you defeat the temple's boss, Morpha. Ruto then awakens as the Sage of Water and tells you she will no longer be able to marry you, but informs you (for the first time since you woke up) that Princess Zelda is still alive.
