Navi is the main fairy partner of Link in Ocarina of Time. She was first sent to Link, at the start of the game, by the Great Deku Tree. She is well known for her "catchphrases" being annoying to many players. Navi helps Link in several ways; Z-Targeting, reminding Link where to go next, offering hints on enemies etc.
At the end of Ocarina of Time, Navi flew away from Link after he placed the Master Sword in the Pedestal of Time. No reason has been given for this disappearance.
Navi's successor is Tatl from Majora's Mask, but (presumably due to fan responses) her yells are replaced by bicycle bell sounds. - There have been several jokes, videos, and fan humor based on her catchphrases.
- Navi was created for the Z-Targeting function.[1]
- The name "Navi" is the result of Toru Osawa shortening and personifying Yoshiaki Koizumi's "Fairy Navigation System".[1]
