Ezlo was originally a Minish wizard himself, but when his apprentice Vaati steals his magic hat that can grant wishes, he is transformed into a cap. Link saves Ezlo when he is being attacked by monsters in the Minish Woods, and together they depeart on a journey to stop Vaati. At the end of The Minish Cap, once Vaati has been defeated, Ezlo takes on his true form once again.
