A Tomahawk is available in each of the eight dungeons, held by one of the Goblins that Link may encounter on the way to the Dragon's lair. Some dungeon levels end in a pair of branching staircases, and the tomahawk of the dungeon is missable if the wrong path is chosen.
If obtained, it is automatically equipped when fighting the Dragon boss who guards the dungeon's Triforce fragment. It takes 9 HP from the Dragon per hit, three times the damage of the Sword. It cannot be used against Goblins, only in boss battles.
Tomahawks cannot be carried between dungeons, and must be collected anew each time.
