Map is missing all icons...?
I came back from dinner to update some pins for Korok Seeds, loaded up the map to find that it's not displaying anything. Been hitting refresh and closing my browser for at good ten minutes. Everything was there--shrines, seeds, quests, settlement icons, etc.--approximately an hour ago.
Nathrien (talk) 22:08, March 15, 2017 (UTC)
EDIT: Ah, nevermind. Everything is back. I guess it was refreshing itself? Problems always fix themselves the moment I open my mouth!
Nathrien (talk) 22:09, March 15, 2017 (UTC)
@Nathrien - When people add pins, if they typo or make other errors, it will block all pins from working. Many editors such as myself monitor and correct these errors when they occur and then it works again. This has happened several times since we started.

How do I add a pin?
Heya I found a Korok Seed that wasn't shown on the map yet and am trying to add a pin to it...could I get some help please? :o the preceding unsigned post by Josie94 (contribs) at 00:29, March 19, 2017 (UTC)
- Sure. Just edit this page and add a new line to the bottom like {{Pin/Seed|lat|lng|nearest landmark|ID}} - make an ID one higher than the last line. There are more instructions here if you want to add an image and more info about the seed. << Locke(T·C) >> 01:47, March 19, 2017 (UTC)
- To find the right lat and lng to use, click on the map to drop a pin, and drag it to the precise location of the seed. It'll tell you the coordinates for that point. << Locke(T·C) >> 01:48, March 19, 2017 (UTC)
Partial Image Corruption
Two image files in the map appear to have small levels of corruption displaying white spot blobs, I can confirm this defect is carried over to lower levels of zoom, at level 5 the offending files are: 23-11 and 22-19. I have manually fixed the images on the fifth level of zoom and could provide them if necessary but it'd be better if whoever got the originals could re-rip them without the corruption. Furthermore I can assert this are the two only occurrences of this type of corruption (white overwriting the values underneath and some chromatic aberration on the white). AsteriskAmpersand (talk) 2:23, March 24, 2017
- Thanks for pointing that out! Fortunately the base file I have doesn't have the corruptions so I was able to re-cut those sections. << Locke(T·C) >> 04:29, March 24, 2017 (UTC)
Additional Pin Types
Hello,
I'm not sure if this has already been considered, but I think it would be a great idea to add some additional pin types. The biggest one that comes to mind is a pin type for guardian stalkers. I'm currently farming these things and I've used up pretty much all my in game pins marking guardian locations. Another thing that might be nice to add would icons for specific types of treasure. The category "Treasure" is really broad and being used to death. Anyways, thanks for your consideration. ShadowCat (talk) March 30, 2017
- This would require new icons to be created, but I personally could see the merit of a much more in-depth community-created map of these features, including such items as in-world weapon spawn points. A casual reminder that the Royal Claymore atop the Woodland Tower, like all in-world weapon spawns, respawns with every Blood Moon and as such is an excellent destination for replenishing equipment during midgame. I've also put a stamp at the Akkala labyrinth to remind myself of a Great Flameblade spawning location... now I don't have to feel bad about USING them. --Greymaria (talk) 03:34, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
- Many people have been adding 'treasure' which aren't chests but are weapons in the world. If we weren't using these icons for bosses, I would want to use the sword/shield/bow icons, I assume that's what they're meant for. However, I don't like map clutter. Weapons respawn and there's plenty of them in the game. It would be equivalent to mapping every enemy, mushroom, lizard, and butterfly. Potentially helpful when you need a butterfly, but man would it clutter up the map when you don't. Thortok2000 (talk) 10:44, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
- That Great Flameblade, seriously! I think I still have the same one I first found, and in brand new condition. So great for starting fires (I know of a few other places to find it too btw). Didn't realize Blood Moon was what respawned weapons, thanks for that :) Anyways, yes I considered new icons would need to be created, and I agree to retasking the sword, shield, and bow icons to what they actually represent. And true the map could get really with all the food/animal type items, unfortunately it kind of already is with all of the "treasure". If icons for food/animals are added, they would probably only want to show at the highest zoom level. And it might be a good idea to add separate icons for food and animals. Regarding clutter, the way I see it is that legend is there for a reason. I typically don't look at the map with everything turned on, so for me it never feels cluttered. Maybe keeping the sword/shield/bow at the highest zoom level would also help to declutter. I guess my main question is, if we go ahead and create new icons, is this something that can reasonably be implemented? I can help create icons, but beyond that all this wiki stuff is really new to me.--ShadowCat (talk) 19:34, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
- There's two main issues. One is that the more icons we have, the more layers we have, the bigger the legend gets, and it's already pretty much at the maximum. The second is that we're trying to use in-game art for every icon. We're one of (if not) the only interactive maps to do such a thing. Breaking that standard is a major change and actually feels like a step backward. Other than those issues, adding another category, mapping that category to a pin, and adding pins, would be very easy. Thortok2000 (talk) 19:44, March 31, 2017 (UTC)
- A second map showing these very precise details instead of the main features our current map shows could alleviate some of the clutter. After all, not everyone's interested in every single Rusty Halberd. Additionally, don't weapons and resources already have 2D images? If a sufficiently large portion of the community is willing to put in the time to comb Hyrule, I'd agree with letting them have at it. Barring that, we could simply discuss notable weapon spawns and one-time containers found within regions a la Korok seeds. --Greymaria (talk) 02:38, April 1, 2017 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm new to this wiki, so forgive me if I'm not replying correctly. I freelance as a graphic artist, and as such, can design custom icons for you using the Zelda BoTW Sheikah Theme. They would look faithful to the game, as if they were unused textures. If you could provide me with a rough sketch, I could attempt to remake it, pixel-by-pixel, which is the only way I work. I find it produces much more desirable results. Anyway, if you'd like me to do some icons for you, I'm open to requests. (By the by, if I may suggest a feature of my own, I'm thinking maybe something like Google StreetView could be cool. I'm not a tech nerd, So I don't know if it's technologically feasible, but you could highlight points on the map, then players could provide in-game screenshots, which could then be knit together into a 360° image) Thanks! -Steets (talk) 04:26, April 2, 2017 (UTC)

- @Thortok2000, I think what Steets is proposing is exactly what I had in mind. There's no reason any icons/pin types we add couldn't look stylewise authentic to the game. In fact, they would have to or I agree, it would be a step backward. @Greymaria, my opinion a second map would create the need to be going back and forth and that doesn't sound desirable. ShadowCat (talk) 04:42, April 2, 2017 (UTC)
- As long as icons aren't ugly, that solves that problem. But still; we're pretty much at the maximum amount of layers we can have without going into submenus and adding additional complexity to the legend to enable/disable even more layers. Definitely don't want to have a 2nd map. And the google street view thing is very unnecessary. Another site is already trying to do that if you want to help them out: it's gimmicky at best. Just play the game yourself and go there and get much better than a 360° view, seriously. =P Thortok2000 (talk) 04:43, April 3, 2017 (UTC)
- Hello All! I went ahead and, In my free time, made a test icon, as an example of the work I'd do. I tried to stick with the monochromatic color scheme for it, but I am open to criticism. This icon: http://imgur.com/a/0M6Xv is supposed to be for the Stationary Guardian.(By the way, the weird four corners thing was my cursor I left on screen.) I'm working on a Stalker version. Regards - Steets (talk) 17:40, April 2, 2017 (UTC)
- If we use this icon at all, it should only be used for ones that are active and will shoot at you. But as far as I know those aren't even in the compendium, so I'm iffy about mapping them in the first place. =/ Also, the Sheikah blue diamond should absolutely only be for teleportable locations, not for enemies. Thortok2000 (talk) 04:41, April 3, 2017 (UTC)
- Steet, that looks like a great start! A question and a comment. Is that the right resolution, as far as matching the other icons used on the legend? May I suggest doing the guardian icons more in the style and coloring of the skull, bow and arrow, sword, etc. Thanks for creating something so fast! ShadowCat (talk) 20:50, April 2, 2017 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm not sure of the resolution of the icons on the map, but I do all my work on a scalable 128*128 palette. 256 is a bit too excessive for map tiles. If you'd like, I CAN color it similar to the bow and arrow etc. One counterquestion: Would you like the eye red to make it stand out a bit on the map, or should I just leave it the standard yellow/tannish? Best - Steets (talk) 21:15, April 2, 2017 (UTC) EDIT: I made one with a red eye, so it can stand out. It can be found here>>> http://imgur.com/a/u918Z It's in my standard of 128*128, and is in the new yellow stamp palette.
- Any way you can show one that's to scale? As in, the size it would be on the map? It looks like it might be too 8-bit style to match the in-game icons we're using, but won't know for sure until I can see it at actual size. Also, it seems opposite; all the icons in game are yellow with black borders and not black with yellow borders. Thortok2000 (talk) 04:41, April 3, 2017 (UTC)

Guys, I know we have a talk page, but it probably would be better to discuss this in the #wiki channel in discord! Thortok2000 (talk) 04:43, April 3, 2017 (UTC)
- One thing before I move to the discord: There is no way for me to scale it, unless you allow me to edit the HTML of the origin mapfile. It looks 8bit because I'm using a pixel Sprite editor, but once it is scaled down to a similar resolution to that of the map icons, it looks the same as the others. I'll work on switching the color palettes again today. Expect a result in the discord. Best -Steets (talk) 15:00, April 3, 2017 (UTC)
- I don't really have the ability to do discord, but I would love to see the leaf stamp icon used to mark the location of rafts. Alshain (talk) 17:18, April 7, 2017 (UTC)
Lynels are not correct
I was viewing the map and a lot of the lynel types are messed up. Most silver lynels are actually white maned lynels, and some white maned lynels are marked as normal lynels. I made an account to try and fix this but I can't figure out how to edit lynel types. Thanks! the preceding unsigned post by Makar-oni (contribs) at April 9 22:59 (UTC)
- Hey, would you be able to let us know which Lynels are incorrect, and we can change them. Reply to me here or add me on discord (BlackRayquaza98#9741) with the location and what the type should be. Thanks! - BlackRayquaza98 (talk) 22:26, April 9, 2017 (UTC)
I have not been able to see every lynel, but here are the ones I have visited in the past hour or so to confirm: the lynel at Lat: 0.7319 Lng: 0.6925 is a white maned lynel, the lynel at Lat: 0.7921 Lng: 0.9 is also a white maned lynel. Thanks!
- "Most Lynels "rank up" based on your progression. The map shows the default types that you will encounter at each spot early on in the game, but these will gradually be replaced by more dangerous variants, and, ultimately, by fearsome Silver Lynels. Even in the late-game, though, you can find a standard Lynel atop Ploymus Mountains, and Blue-Maned and White-Maned specimens inside Hyrule Castle's Gatehouses." -- Quote from official guide
- What this means: If you find a stronger Lynel than the map says, you have just progressed a lot, and the map is not wrong. If you find one weaker than the map says, then the person who reported it progressed more than you have, and you should update the map with the weaker version. accessing map from different computers?
Is it possible to access my completion map on different computers? I've been editing from a desktop but want to see all my edits from my laptop also (completions). basically i got a bunch of korok seeds and am cleaning the map up but dont want to have to do it all over on another computer.

Missing Goddess Statue
I was just exploring the map a little bit, traveling through the Goddess Statues section, and I noticed a statue missing. The Goddess Statue that is at the very end of the Forgotten Temple (which is actually the biggest one in the game) is missing. Not sure if you guys knew this already or not, just thought i'd let you know. The latitude/longitude for it is Latitude 1.2737 and Longitude 0.6679.
Unable to hide items on BOTW Interactive Map
I have managed to get to 874 Korok Seeds, when I counted the remaining I had left on th emap it was 25 not 26. I must have cleared one by mistake. I followed the instructions on clearing my cookies and all my completed Korok seeds returned. However, now when I try to clear them as completed, they remain on my map. Is there something I could check on my end? Another thing to clear?
Thanks, Lodeman
- Make sure you click the 'hide/show hidden items' at the bottom of the legend. Thortok2000 (talk) 16:13, May 1, 2017 (UTC)
How to change zoom level for Treasure?
I'd like to change the zoom level for treasure chests from 5 to [4,5]. But I don't know how to save this for my browser (if even possible). Any ideas?
- Default zoom levels are currently hardcoded, however you can override and show any layer(s) at all zoom levels by selecting layers manually. If all layers are selected, it reverts to the default as far as which items show at which zoom levels. See Locke in the wiki channel on discord for more details. Lanayru Wetland editing
As I explained on a page of the adminstrator Josh, I had an accident yesterday with the map data. I wasn't logged in, nor did I have a contributing permission. By checking a Korok seed location in the Lanayru Wetlands section of the interactive map, I accidentaly removed the pin (and all information with it?). I don't know how to undo it, neither do I know how I could have made it disappear. It's the Korok in Telta Lake SW (SW in the Wetlands)with the offering bowl on the small island. A better position of the pin than it held then is: L 0,9726, L 0,9000. In the neighbourhood, the treasure chest E of the Rikoka Hills on the landside doesn't contain a royal broadsword, but a soldier's broadsword. Since I don't know yet how to put in back and in, I give you the information this way. And sorry for messing up the pin. the preceding unsigned post by Bilbo Baggins (contribs) at 20:39, June 2, 2017 (UTC) (UTC)
- Don't worry, to my knowledge you didn't delete the pin from the map. If you check to see that you have the 'Hide Completed' function checked, you will notice that the pin won't be there, but if you un-check that option you will see the pin re-appears. Thanks for the information on the treasure chest, we will sort that out. - BlackRayquaza98 (talk) 19:19, June 5, 2017 (UTC)
