Daval is a character found in Tears of the Kingdom.
Tears of the Kingdom
Daval works alongside Ponnick and can be seen near the Hyrule Field Chasm. The two are both part of the Zonai Survey Team. Daval will get startled and yell at Link if Link talks to him while pearing over the chasm.[1][2][3] Falling into the chasm would be a disaster, not only for him, but for the whole chasm investigation team. An accident like that might halt research.
Daval holds Josha with great regard and wants to advance the research in chasms for her.[4] He mentions that Josha can be found at Lookout Landing, which is the base of operations for the team.[5]
Camera Work in the Depths

After speaking with Robbie and Josha at Lookout Landing, this will begin the Camera Work in the Depths quest. When Link makes his way over to the Hyrule Field Chasm, he'll see Daval looking over the edge, down into the Chasm. Daval is wondering if Robbie is okay down there. This serves as a hint that Robbie did travel down this chasm and Link should follow suit.[6]
