The Subrosian Smithy is a location in Oracle of Seasons situated in Subrosia. Link can give his items and equipments to them in order to let them merge and polish his items to a new and upgraded item. The first item Link gives them is the Wooden Shield and the Hard Ore, which will turn into the Iron Shield when merged. Link can also give them his Rusty Bell, which will become the Pirate's Bell when merged.
