The Broken Sword is the twelfth item in the Trading Sequence of Oracle of Ages.
To obtain it, Link must speak with the Elderly Zora in the Coast of No Return. When Link speaks to him, he is reminiscing over his past as a musician, and wishes for an instrument so that he can relieve his youth.[2] If Link gives him the Sea Ukulele, he becomes ecstatic, and give Link an ancient sword, given to his ancestors by a great hero, in return.[3] The sword, however, is broken, and cannot be used.[4]
The Broken Sword can later be taken to Patch in order to be upgraded into the Noble Sword.
