Blade Trap is an inanimate enemy first introduced in The Legend of Zelda.

The Legend of Zelda

These traps were held in the corner of some rooms in dungeons. If Link were to get in the path of them, they'd fly towards him until they hit each other, then retracted. They cannot be defeated because they're essentially an obstacle.

A Link to the Past

Link's Awakening

They are found in dungeons around Koholint Island. They work the same as in The Legend of Zelda and can be jumped over with Roc's Feather.

Ocarina of Time

These spiked obstacles are invulnerable and come in two varieties: ones that move in a set path and ones that ambush you if you get close. Either way, they cannot be defeated, so just wait for them to get on the far side of you and sneak past. In some puzzles, you can use blocks or statues to put in their path so they don't have much wiggle room. They appear in Dodongo's Cavern, the Ice Cavern, the Water Temple, the Shadow Temple, the Spirit Temple, and Ganon's Castle.

Majora's Mask

Oracle of Seasons

There are 4 different types of blade traps from this game.

Blue Trap

These work the same like the traps from The Legend of Zelda and Link's Awakening.

Green Trap

Unlike most of the other traps, this one doesn't slow down and retract. It continuously goes back and forth, making it a bit more difficult to pass, similar to the ones from Ocarina of Time except faster.

Orange Trap

This is the fastest trap in the game, similar to the blue trap except when it's activated, it goes much faster, but retracts more slowly.

Giant Traps

These traps are much larger than normal traps and follow set paths. They come in red and orange colors.

Oracle of Ages

There are 2 traps, blue and green, exactly similar to the blue and green traps from Oracle of Seasons.

Four Swords

The Wind Waker

Blade Traps appear in the Wind Temple. They are invulnerable and move back and forth. In order to make it past the room to get to the boss door with Makar, blocks must be placed strategically so that they block the Blade Traps so that they don't get in your way.

Four Swords Adventures

The Minish Cap

Twilight Princess

Blade Traps appear in the Temple of Time. They are very similar to their other appearances because they are basically a moving obstacle. However, this is the first and only time that they are destructible. By taking control of the huge statue and its hammer, one swing obliterates a Blade Trap.

Twilight Princess

Phantom Hourglass

Spirit Tracks

Skyward Sword
