Lake Hylia in Ocarina of Time is the main source of water in Hyrule as in Twilight Princess (see below). It holds some Gold Skulltulas, the Fishing Pond, the Marine Laboratory, both Scarecrows (at least in the past), and, of course, the Water Temple. In the past, the lake is full, but in the future it is pretty much empty until Link completes the Water Temple. It is very important to the plot.

Ocarina of Time

The dreaded Water Temple

Lake Hylia holds some Gold Skulltulas, the Fishing Pond, the Marine Laboratory, both Scarecrows (at least in the past), and, of course, the Water Temple. In the past, the lake is full, but in the future it is pretty much empty until Link completes the Water Temple. It is very important to the plot.

The Minish Cap

In The Minish Cap, Lake Hylia contains the Temple of Droplets. (please add more info)

Twilight Princess

Twilight Princess' Lake Hylia is home to Lanaryu Spring, carnival type games, the Lake Bed Temple, and over the lake is the Great Bridge of Hylia. This Lake is also the main water source of Hyrule, as in Ocarina of Time. When Link first comes to this Lake it is mostly empty; but after he unfreezes Zora's Domain, the lake is filled again.
