The Lowder is a enemy that appears in The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda (animated series), The Faces of Evil, and The Wand of Gamelon.

Appearances

The Adventure of Link

The Lowder is a beetle with a hard shell that can be found in deserts and caves in The Adventure of Link. These bug crawl slowly across the floor in search of any food, but it will charge with high speed when it detects Link. Because they prefer dark places, they are extremely difficult to see.

They are very small, and Link must crouch or use the Downward Thrust in order to kill them. Link gains 3 experience points for defeating the Lowder.

Non-Canonical appearances

The Lowder also appears as the enemy in The Legend of Zelda (animated series), The Faces of Evil, and The Wand of Gamelon.

The Legend of Zelda Animated Series

In the animated series, the Lowder serves as Ganon's main transportation when he traveling in the overworld. They are large than their game counterparts and have the ability to climb walls.

The Faces of Evil and The Wand of Gamelon

They can be found crawling on top of tree branches. These tiny enemies are very hard to defeat because of their small stature. Even when they are on a level ground, kneeling and swinging your sword will not do the trick since they are too short. Instead, you'll have to ensure that they are on a higher ground and then swing your sword. In some cases this is impossible so they just need to be avoided.

It is best to defeat them in the distance when at all possible by using your sword beam attack. If you must, bombs are also an effective way of defeat them. Due to the lack of recovery time, a simple Lowder can take away several heart pieces almost instantaneously if they get too close to you.
