The Crenel Hermit is a character that appears within The Minish Cap. He is an elderly man that lives within a cave at the northwest portion of Mt. Crenel, just west of the Crenel Wall.

He enjoys his life as a hermit, indicated by his statement that he left the world to persue a life of quiet reflection. He applauds Link's courage for climbing Mt. Crenel, even though Link is just a child. The Hermit gives Link the advice that if he sees strange patterned walls, Link should use Bombs.[1]

Before taking up a life of isolation, the Crenel Hermit had won the Picori Festival Tournament as a child.

Link is able to fuse Green Kinstones at various points in the game with The Crenel Hermit.[2] As it is a Green Kinstone fusion, it is not set to a specific treasure chest, but instead, one of the many possible treasure chests. There is one random Red Kinstone within the game that opens up a location in the Hyrule Castle Garden leading to a Piece of Heart, as well as a random Blue Kinstone that opens up a tree in North Hyrule Field leading to a Fairy Fountain. The Crenel Hermit is one of the many characters in which Link can make these Kinstone fusions with.

  1. "I'm the Crenel hermit. I left the world to pursue a life of quiet reflection. You seem to be but a child, and yet you climbed this forbidding mountain alone? I must reward your courage with a little information. Have you not seen strange patterned walls as you climbed this mountain? Bombs! Bombs are the answer!" — Crenel Hermit, The Minish Cap.
  2. "I have an old Kinstone piece that I dug up somewhere around here. Do you want to fuse Kinstone pieces? Oh, yeah! Maybe later" — Crenel Hermit, The Minish Cap.
