The Blast Mask is a mask that has the capability to create explosions. Like [[Bomb]]s, this mask can be used to blow up boulders and defeat various enemies. Unlike bombs, however, there is not a limited supply of explosives Link can use. One of the the only downsides is that it takes a considerable amount of time to reach a sufficient charge. The only other downside is that on each use, Link takes recoil damage. However, this can be easily avoided by holding up your shield so that no damage is taken.

When Link uses the Blast Mask, he takes damage, however, if he uses his shield and then uses the Blast Mask, then no damage will be taken. This is because the explosion is technically in front of Link and therefore, his shield protects him from the explosion.
