The Green Jerkin is the name of Link's starting outfit in A Link to the Past.[1] With the exceptions of The Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Spirit Tracks, and Skyward Sword, Link always begins his quest with a green tunic.
When Link first awakens in A Link to the Past, he is already clothed in the green jerkin, as well as his traditional cap.[2] It is a regular outfit typical of the boys in Hyrule.[3] It is light and perfect for all weather conditions.[4] Later in the game, Link is able to upgrade his jerkin by acquiring the Blue Mail and the Red Mail and gain more defense.[5]
