The shrine can also be cleared using the laser just once. Go ahead and rotate the wheel to activate the switch and flood the shrine. Otherwise, use an arrow, which you may be able to recover later.
 
Once the chest with the [[Opal]] is reached, make your way to the switch platform by using [[Cryonis]]. Create a bomb and place it right next to the switch on a corner as close to the edge as possible. Create a second bomb (be it a cube or a sphere) and place it on the platform on the opposite corner's edge. The further away the bombs are, the less likely their explosion range will detonate the other bomb. If you activated the switch with an arrow, you can retrieve it if it fell on the platform or close by on the water.
 
Make your way to the open door around the laser beam and detonate the first bomb once you're there. This will lower the water level so that you can place the barrel on the floor switch. Once the floor switch is activated and the door is open, go through it and detonate the second bomb to make the water rise once again. Create a Cryonis block to reach the second chest that has the [[Giant Boomerang]].

The next part is semi-annoying. Position the metal barrel (using Magnesis) until it is exactly above the switch that's underneath the water on this side. Use whatever method you need to in order to make sure it's in the right spot, so that when the water drains it will fall to the switch.
Next, turn the wheel again to rotate the laser platform again, and as soon as the platform starts moving, jump into the water and dash across before the water level lowers to the open doorway across from the entrance.


Return to the other side, and use an ice pillar to climb and stand on the platform that the laser emitter is on. It's important to be on this platform and not still on your Cryonis pillar. Once you're on that platform, shoot the diamond switch across the way, which will lower the water. This is when you find out for sure whether your barrel is in the right spot or not. If it is, it will open the gate at this point. If it's not, backstep to the previous paragraph and repeat until you're back at this point again.
Now that the water level went back down, grab the barrel and place it on the floor switch.


So at this point, you should be standing on the platform with the laser emitter, the water should be low, and the barrel should be on the switch. If all those things are checked off, let's continue.
Jump back into the first area and raise the water level again. Place a [[Cryonis]] pillar next to the laser platform and climb up to that platform.
Switch to [[Stasis]] rune.  Shoot the switch to raise the water level. Take aim with [[Stasis]] at the floor switch. Just before the water level spills over into the area of the floor switch hit the floor switch with [[Stasis]]. Dash swim over to the doorway then dash through the raised gate.


The next steps you'll need to do quickly. Shoot an arrow at the switch one final time, but then immediately (before the water finishes filling) glide to the area with the barrel and run through the gate before it closes. If you didn't make it in time, scroll back a paragraph and try again.
With the high water level, place a [[Cryonis]] pillar next to the platform with the last chest containing the [[Giant Boomerang]]. Climb up there and open it.


If done correctly, you should be in the area with the altar, and the water should be on the high setting. If this is true, a Cryonis pillar will get you to a chest nearby, and then you can head to the altar for your [[Spirit Orb]].

The alternative method is the most easy one. After taking the easy treasure chest (containing an '''opal'''), start with raising the water level (with the wheel). Use Cyronis to get on the platform with the crystal switch and put a remote bomb there. Switch your rune to Cyronis again, don't detonate the bomb yet.


Swim to the side with the gate, don't bother positioning the barrel now. Use a Cyronis pillar to get on the laser platform. Lower the water level by shooting an arrow to the crystal and glide to the gate side. If you didn't reach the gate side, raise the water level with the wheel and repeat the steps mentioned in this paragraph.
With the water level low now, put the barrel easily on the switch behind the gate side and see how the gate opens. Get on the other side of the gate and detonate the bomb now. You only need Cyronis to reach the second treasure chest (containing a '''giant boomerang''').
