Nintendo Power: January/February 1990 is the 10th issue of Nintendo Power magazine. Up through the end of 1990, Nintendo Power magazine volumes were released covering two-month periods of time, and they were not generally numbered in or on the magazine until Volume 16 (September/October 1990), although "Strategy Guide" issues before this carried a dual "SGxx/NPxx" numbering. The magazine marks the first reference to A Link to the Past, simply referred to as Zelda 3, an upcoming games for the Super Famicom.

Player's Pulse (pp. 6-7)

In the Player's Pulse, 11-yr old Marty is featured. He is the eldest of five brothers and recently picked up The Adventure of Link. While he was far along in the game, one of his brothers accidentally deleted his file, requiring him to start over. He quickly got back to the point in the game where he was and after calling a Nintendo Power Counselor, was finally able to complete the game. After completing the game, he gave it another go and the magazine claims he beat the game in forty two minutes. Even by today standards, this time can only be achieved using major glitches, many of which were not discovered until decades later.

In the Power Player Profile, Jeff Gilkey is featured and he mentioned that the Legend of Zelda is his favorite game. He enjoys the variety of enemies and hekpful items, making it a great challenge. With the addition of the Second Quest, he doesn't get bored doing the same thing over again.

Game Designer Profile (p. 23)

In a special about the making of Super Mario Bros 3., there is a deep dive into game developer Shigeru Miyamoto. The magazine talks about his history as the creator of Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and The Legend of Zelda franchises. His current projects including planning games for the Super Famicom, including titles Super Mario Bros. 4 and Zelda 3.

Top 30 (pp. 80-82)

In this volumes Top 30, The Adventure of Link bumps back up to the number 3 spot, while The Legend of Zelda also bumps up to number 8, both titles being one position better than the previous issue. Adventure of Link comes in with 6,886 points, while The Legend of Zelda has 3,508 points. This was the first time that The Legend of Zelda did not make in appearance on the Top 30 Dealers' Picks.

NES Journal (p. 91)

In the NES Journal, there is a celebrity profile on actor Stephen Furst. While a few games are mentioned, he doesn't reference either Zelda titles that he plays. Furst does coach Little League Basbeall and youth Soccer for how two boys. The magazine writes, Needles to say, Stephen gets an even bigger kick out of Simon and Link.

Nintendo Power Advertisements (pp. 2, 96)

There is an advertisement of a man holding a Team Power pin, along with an issue of Nintendo Power magazine. The issue he is holding up has The Adventure of Link on the cover. An advertisement is shown where readers can order back issues of Nintendo Power magazine. The first 9 issues shown, with the 4th issue featuring The Adventure of Link on the cover. There is also an advertisement for The Legend of Zelda Tips & Tactics Strategy Guide.
