Link will have to go the exact same location in the [[Past]] where he got the [[Funny Joke]], and enter the house besides him. There is a boy who is depressed and if Link tells him the Funny Joke, it will cheer him up and make him happier. He says it was so funny that he forgot to laugh. Link will then be acquired the Touching Book as a reward for helping him get happier. The Touching Book is later being dropped by Link after he bumped into [[Maple]] and as she reads the book, she will give Link the [[Magic Oar]] in return.

The Touching Book can be used to acquire the tenth item of the trading sequence, the [[Magic Oar]]. The Touching Book is traded to [[Maple]], who can be found at certain trigger points within [[Labrynna]]. If Link bumps into Maple with the Touching Book in hand, she notices it,{{Ref|OoA|351|Maple}} and easily identifies it as the Touching Book, saying that she was supposed to take it to [[Syrup]].{{Ref|name=read|OoA|352|Maple}} She hastly asks Link why he has it, and then asks to read it.{{Ref|name=read}} While reading, Maple lets out random noises, including sobs and tears.{{Ref|OoA|353-354|Maple}} After thanking Link, Maple gives him the Magic Oar, saying it's the first one she made, but Syrup never complimented her on it.{{Ref|OoA|355|Maple}}
