Shiro is a male character featured within Majora's Mask.

Overview

Shiro is found on the Road to Ikana. He is inside of a circle of rocks, but he is invisible. To be able to see and talk to him, Link must equip the Lens of Truth. Once Link speaks to him, he is suprised that Link noticed him, as he apparently has been sitting in that same spot for some time, attempting to catch the attention of passerby. He believes that nobody noticed him due because he was plain and boring, and he compares himself to a stone.

He asks Link to bring him some medicine to make him feel better. If Link brings either a Red Potion or a Blue Potion, he will become visible once again, and will reward Link with the Stone Mask. This mask allows Link to avoid being noticed by enemies, similar to how nobody noticed Shiro. After doing this, Shiro can be found finding a way to raise his spear in an attempt to stand out.

Etymology

In Japanese, Shiro means blank, or plain. Shiro refers to himself as those, so the name matches his personality.

Trivia

  • Shiro is thought to be a counterpart to the soldier in the back alley waving for help in Ocarina of Time. They bear many similarities. Like Shiro, this soldier is easily overlooked, pleading for help, and is not noticed by anyone.
