==Overview==

The '''Ancient Core''' is a material found in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild|Breath of the Wild]]''. Ancient Cores can drop as a random loot from certain [[Guardian (Breath of the Wild)|Guardians]]. [[Guardian Stalker]]s, [[Guardian Skywatcher]]s, and [[Guardian Turret]]s will drop this material. The [[Guardian Scout III]] and [[Guardian Scout IV]] will rarely drop this item as well. Additionally, Link can purchase Ancient Cores from the traveling merchant [[Teli]]. While Teli normally only sells an [[Ancient Screw]], [[Ancient Spring]], and [[Ancient Gear]], he has a rainy day special, where Link can purchase an Ancient Core for 130 rupees.

This material can be used in creating ancient equipment at the [[Akkala Ancient Tech Lab]]. Ancient Cores are used in the manufacturing of the [[Ancient Short Sword]], [[Ancient Shield]], [[Ancient Bladesaw]], and [[Ancient Spear]]. It is also used to purchase all items from the [[Ancient Armor]] set, such as the [[Ancient Helm]], [[Ancient Cuirass]], and [[Ancient Greaves]]. When Link upgrades the Ancient Armor at the [[Great Fairy]], he will need at least 5 Ancient Cores for the third upgrade. Link can also trade an Ancient Core with [[Kilton]] at his shop, the [[Fang and Bone]], for 40 [[Mon]] each.

==Slated for Upgrades==

In the [[Slated for Upgrades]] sidequest, Link will need to acquire three Ancient Cores in order to upgrade his [[Stasis Rune]]. After bringing them to [[Purah]], she will upgrade Link's Stasis Rune to Stasis+, which allows Link to use Stasis on enemies, freezing them momentarily.
