ReDeads make their debut appearance in Ocarina of Time. Their appearance is very similar to that of a zombie. When Link approaches a ReDead, it "screeches" at him, immobilizing him temporarily, giving them a chance to jump on his back and start grappling him. This takes a ton of hearts away if Link doesn't escape fast enough. If this happens, and Link does get jumped on, the best way to get off is to mash buttons to try and remove it. They take a lot of hits to kill.

ReDeads also appear in Hyrule Castle Town after Ganon conquered the kingdom, suggesting that they were once villagers who couldn't escape the town when Ganon took over. Weirdly, their screams will not paralyze Link, unlike the other ReDeads in the game.

ReDeads can be stunned with either Deku Nuts or the Sun's Song, both which act as great weapons against them.
