On April 18th, 2013, in a Nintendo Direct conference, a new Zelda game was announced for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is a direct sequel to [[The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past|''A Link to the Past'']], and it will take place in the "same game world as ''A Link to the Past''", although this is unclear whether it means the same overworld or not, or whether or not it includes the [[Dark World]]. However, it is confirmed that it is a new game with a new story and dungeons. It is also known that a new mechanic allows Link to turn into a drawing on the wall, giving the game a side-scrolling aspect. The game's viewpoint is overhead, similar to [[The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass|Phantom Hourglass]] and [[The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks|Spirit Tracks]]. The game's official name is unknown, but many fans have dubbed it "A Link to the Past 2". It uses a variation of the graphics in ''A Link to the Past'', however they are more high-definition and less pixelated.
