'''Darunia''', also known as the '''Passionate Brother''', is a supporting protagonist in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]''. He is the patriarchal leader of the [[Goron|Gorons]] and Sworn Brother of the [[Royal Family of Hyrule#Ocarina of Time|King of Hyrule]]. His [[Darunia's Ancestor|ancestor]] was famed hero, who defeated [[Volvagia]] using the [[Megaton Hammer]]. Darunia eventually awakens as the [[Seven Sages|Sage of Fire]] after [[Link (Ocarina of Time)|Link]] completes the [[Fire Temple]] and saves the Gorons from being fed to Volvagia.

In ''Ocarina of Time'', Darunia is the leader of the Gorons, and is a strict but insightful leader capable of seeing the greater cause of problems. Darunia was eventually approached by [[Ganon|Ganondorf]], who demanded that Darunia relinquished the [[Goron's Ruby]], one of the three [[Spiritual Stones]], or he would blockade [[Dodongo's Cavern]] and cut off the Gorons' main source of food; despite the consequences, Darunia refused as he knew the Goron's Ruby was too important for Ganondorf to possess. Darunia was eventually forced to lock himself away in his room to protect the Ruby, as the Gorons were becoming so hungry they starting viewing the Spiritual Stone as tasty.

Darunia is eventually met by [[Link (Ocarina of Time)|Link]], who had travelled to [[Goron City (Ocarina of Time)|Goron City]] to receive the Stone.{{Ref|OoT|1181|[[Goron]]}} He learns of the plight from the other Gorons and plays [[Zelda's Lullaby]] to gain access to the chief's room; While Darunia is initially furious that the [[Royal Family of Hyrule]] sent a boy as their messenger, he lightens up after Link plays [[Saria's Song]] to cheer him up. Darunia agreed to give Link the Stone if he proved himself worthy, by clearing out Dodongo's Cavern of the monsters infesting it{{Ref|OoT|1184|Darunia}}; to help him, he gives Link the [[Goron Bracelet]]. After Link has defeated [[King Dodongo]] and fulfilled his request, Darunia thanked Link, naming him his "Sworn Brother", and entrusted him with the Goron's Ruby.{{Ref|OoT|1190|Darunia}}.
