If he misses, he must exit the building and reenter to play again.LA If he succeeds, the crane automatically releases the claw over the conveyor belt to the left, where his prize slowly comes toward him.

One of the biggest rewards of the Trendy Game is the Yoshi Doll.LA Instead of looping around on the conveyor belt with the rest of the items, the doll is found in the center of the game room. It is the first item in the Trading Sequence, and it is required to obtain the Ribbon, Dog Food, and ultimately the Bananas, which allow Link to pass into Kanalet Castle with Kiki's help.

*If Link brings Marin to the Trendy Game while she is following him, she asks if she can play.LALA If Link lets her, she picks up the owner as a prize.LA The owner then tells them to leave.LA
While it remains a crane game, and the 10 rupee cost to play is the same as in the Game Boy versions, the game is heavily revamped in the remake of the game. The five items are now sorted into two rows; the front row of three items is static, while the back row moves on two platforms which shuffle left and right. All items also have more realistic physics, and may slip out of the claw on the way to the prize conveyor.

After the Yoshi Doll is collected, a series of figures based on enemies and characters in the game which originally come from the Mario series appear as milestones in the game are reached. No more than one of these appears at a time - even if the conditions for the next one to appear are reached, Link must collect the previous figure(s) and place them on their matching stand, inside one of the houses in Mabe Village, before the next will appear. After every figure has been collected, the Trendy Gamester gives Link a free Chamber Stone, and calls him a "champ", halving the price of subsequent plays to 5 rupees.
