The '''Forest Temple''' is the first [[Dungeon]] in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess|Twilight Princess]]''. It is located at the far northeast ([[Nintendo Wii|Wii]]) of [[Faron Woods]], where a spiderweb is blocking the entrance. After restoring light to the [[Faron Province]], the [[Light Spirit]] [[Faron (Light Spirit)|Faron]] will tell [[Link]] that he needs a dark power, the [[Fused Shadow]]s<ref>{{Cite|TP|1339|[[Faron (Light Spirit)|Faron]]}}</ref>, in order to defeat [[Zant]], the alleged King of Shadows.<ref>{{Cite|TP|1342|[[Faron (Light Spirit)|Faron]]}}</ref> The Fused Shadows have been scattered across [[Hyrule]], and the first rests deep in the Faron Woods, in the Forest Temple.<ref>{{Cite|TP|1343|[[Faron (Light Spirit)|Faron]]}}</ref>

This temple is home to numerous [[Monkey]]s, including the leader, [[Ook]], who has been possessed. After rescuing four of the monkeys from the first half of the dungeon, Link can swing, literally, to the home of Ook and fight him. Once defeated, Ook doesn't die, but instead a bug-like being that seemingly possessed him dies. Ook runs away and leaves behind the [[Gale Boomerang]]. The Gale Boomernag will then fly in the air to Link, where the [[Fairy of Winds]] who resides in the boomernag<ref>{{Cite|TP|6588|[[Fairy of Winds]]}}</ref> will tell Link to take the boomernag and use it to aid his quest.<ref>{{Cite|TP|6590|[[Fairy of Winds]]}}</ref> Using the Gale Boomerang, Link will rescue the rest of the monkeys that have been captured and use them to gain entrance to the Boss Chamber, where [[Diababa]] awaits. Defeating Diababa will reward Link with the first piece of the Fused Shadow.

The [[Mini-Boss]] of the Forest Temple is known as Ook, leader of the monkeys. Gaining access to the Mini-Boss room require Link to free three monkeys and use them to swing over the large gap between the main dungeon and the chamber where Ook lies. There was previously a bridge spanning across the gap, but Ook cut it off with the Gale Boomerang. After Link has defeated Ook, he will appear to be very confused as to his surroundings, and once he sees Link he will proceed to exit the room and leave behind the Gale Boomerang for Link to collect. With the Gale Boomerang in hand, Link can travel even further into the dungeon as he continues his search for a part of the Fused Shadow.

The [[Boss]] of the Forest Temple is known as, Twilit Parasite: Diababa. This parasite version of a standard [[Deku Baba]] is a corruption caused by the powerful Fused Shadows. Diababa can be defeated using a combination of [[Bombling]] attacks and Sword attacks. Ook will actually assist Link in this battle by providing Link with Bombling after Diababa had destroyed the ones in the area. After Link has performed an [[Hidden Skills#Ending Blow|Ending Blow]] on Diababa, it will explode into a million tiny black spots. These spots will come together to form the first piece of the Fused Shadows. [[Midna]] will tell Link that this is what she has been looking for, and urges him to continue in search of the rest.

The Forest Temple holds much of the same Dungeon Items featured in dungeons throughout the [[The Legend of Zelda (Series)|Zelda Series]]. These items include the [[Dungeon Map]], the [[Compass]], the [[Big Key]], and [[Small Key]]s.

Out of the 14 Treasure Chests in the Forest Temple, six of them contain Rupees. Link can find three chests that contain a [[Yellow Rupee]], which is worth 10 Rupees. The other three are that can be found all contain a single [[Red Rupee]], which are worth 20 Rupees. Therefore, Link can collect a total of 90 Rupees in the Dungeon.
