The Legendary Blade of Evil's Bane, the Master Sword makes a return in The Wind Waker. After completing the puzzle in Hyrule Castle, Link can pick it up out of the pedestal in the basement. It does not possess the full power to banquish evil anymore, and must be restored to its original state. Restoring it does not actually increase its power, but it does enable Link to hurt Ganondorf. To restore it, Link needs to receive a prayer from the two Sages that watch over the Earth and Wind Temples (Medli and Makar). Only then can Link use it to finish off Ganondorf by stabbing it through his head.
