Normally, Link holds down a button and releases it to execute a Spin Attack. If the game has a [[Magic Meter]] (Except ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword|Skyward Sword]]''), Link can hold the button longer to do a more powerful Spin Attack and hit from a longer distance. In ''Skyward Sword'', Link must swing the Wii Remote and the Nunchuck horizontally or vertically to perform a Spin Attack. If Link gathers "Skyward Power" by facing the sword up, he can execute the Spin Attack more powerfully and reach a longer distance.
