Fans of The Legend of Zelda are fortunate that they have 21 games spanning over 35 years to play and experience their favorite series. For those who start their Zelda journey with newer titles, they are lucky that most main games in the series are easily accessible via Nintendo Switch Online or through re-makes such as Skyward Sword HD and Link’s Awakening (2019). Recently, I was playing Ocarina of Time through Nintendo Switch Online. I played the original on the Nintendo 64…

Back in late 2023, it was revealed that the Master Sword would become available as part of Bandai Spirits’ Proplica collector’s line. Information on the prop was limited, although it would be displayed at Tamashii Nation’s toy expo, where fans could get a special glimpse of the blade in all its glory. Now, at last, there’s been an announcement to confirm that the replica will release in September 2024. Preorders are available via the Japanese My Nintendo Store, where the…

Nintendo is likely opening bottles of champagne as the Switch ascends the charts — it is so close to being the company’s best-selling console of all time.  On May 7th, 2024, Nintendo released its Financial Results Explanatory Material, detailing the company’s monetary wins for the last fiscal year, which ended on March 31st. Numbers are consistently up, despite a drought in game releases. A few titles will likely keep the Switch alive and profitable in the coming months, especially in…

TerminalMontage’s “Something About” team has returned with another highly-anticipated, hilariously unhinged entry in their Ocarina of Time animated retelling. They have already done a number on Child Link’s journey, and the Adult Hero of Time’s journey to the Forest and Fire Temples. Now they have taken on depicting a spoof of the the infamous Water Temple. This video is full of easter eggs, and most of all, it encapsulates the frustration we classic (Nintendo 64) players of Ocarina of Time…

Announced via Nintendo’s official Zelda X account, a Tears of the Kingdom Master Works book will be coming to Japan on August 30th, 2024. This stunning 464-page A4 hardcover book will include artwork, storyboards, and design concepts from Tears of the Kingdom, as well as comments from the game’s developers. It is astonishing to think that Breath of the Wild was released more than seven years ago. It feels like it was only yesterday that I drove up to my local game store to purchase the game and Nintendo Switch. Likewise, it feels shocking that we are coming up on the one year anniversary of Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to Breath of the Wild. While these two Nintendo Switch games shares a variety of gameplay system and design…

Recently, we ran a series highlighting some of the personal pets and animal companions of our staff here at Zelda Dungeon (Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3). Our furry (and sometimes not-so-furry) friends remind us of the bond that can transcend species and experienced worlds, finding common ground in the concept of love and all our shared quirks. These collections of companions got me wondering if we could build a similar bridge with the monsters and enemies we so often find…

Nintendo’s habit of dropping big news out of nowhere seems to be as strong as ever. Following yesterday’s announcement of “Switch successor” news coming within this fiscal year, the company released a trailer this morning for a new retro-focused title coming soon to Switch. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition brings the spirit of competition to a collection of classics from the NES era, including The Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros., Metroid, and more. Inspired by Nintendo’s in-person championship events…
