The Oracle of Seasons was produced alongside the Oracle of Ages and they were
the first two Zelda titles that were not actually developed by Nintendo.
Instead, the two titles were developed by Flagship, a subsidiary of Capcom, but
were still published by Nintendo.
The Oracle of Seasons was originally set to be a part of a trilogy of Zelda
games, which was known as the “triforce trilogy”. Each of the games would
revolve around one of the three goddesses; Din, Nayru, and Farore. However, as
the development of the games progressed, the third game had been dropped, and
the end result was the Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. Using a unique
password system that will allow you to connect the storyline with the Oracle of
Ages, Link can access a special ending including two additionally secret boss
battles.
Link will battle through nine different dungeons along his quest to defeat Onox,
the General of Darkness. Link can use the Rod of Seasons to change the season to
Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer, often times changing the seasons multiple times
to solve puzzles and access new areas of the overworld. Link will also travel to
the underground land of Subrosia where he will meet an interesting race of
people on his way to saving the land of Holodrum, and rescuing Din, the Oracle
of Seasons.
