Aquamentus is a boss that is encountered in Gnarled Root Dungeon, the first dungeon in Oracle of Seasons. It is portrayed as a large, green, horned dragon with small wings.
Boss Strategy
As Link enters the room, Aquamentus will fly down from the ceiling and land on the ground, beginning Link's first boss fight in Oracle of Seasons. It will attack Link by breathing fireballs in three different directions at him. Before emitting fireballs, its horn turns red allowing Link to foresee the attack and dodge it. It can also attack Link by charging at him in an attempt to impale him with its horn. After crashing against the far wall, it will fly into the air with its wings and will once again land on the right side of the room before continuing attacking Link. Even though it is larger than Link, the battle itself is fairly straight forward. In order for Link to defeat the dragon, he must use the Sword to attack the horn on its head while avoiding its attacks. Once dealt with ten hits, Aquamentus's horn will be destroyed, ending its life. Once Link defeats Aquamentus, he is rewarded with a Heart Container and the first Essence of Nature, the Fertile Soil.
