She only talks to you if you defeat all enemies in the area. Joanne acts and dresses as if she's a mermaid for the Old Wayfarer. Joanne also believes that her sister, Jolene, is only pretending to be a pirate. She's a part of a mermaid side quest, which leads to Link receiving the Fishing Rod.
