Heart Containers have been appearing since the first Zelda game and have been Link's faithful companion for a long time. Picking one up increases Links total amount of hearts by one.

Main article: Pieces of Heart These can be found to increase Links total amount of health as well, but arnt as effective as the Heart Containers.
