"You got the Clawshot! This is a claw at the end of a long chain." -In game description

The Clawshot is an item from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The tool consists of a claw connected by a long chain that can launch and pull Link towards something farther away, or pull a lighter object towards him. The item could be considered an advanced version of the hookshot, which has appeared in numerous other games. The reason for creating a new object with the same purpose is unknown.

Unlike the Hookshot, the clawshot does not allow Link to grapple onto treasure chests. It can attatch to a number of surfaces, such as vines, metal gratings, and specific grappling spots. What makes the clawshot unique is that it can be used underwater, unlike a variety of other items. It functions primarily the same as the Hookshot, except it has the ability to raise and lower Link after being deployed.

The Clawshot is obtained in the Lakebed Temple after defeating the Deku Toad. The second Clawshot is obtained in the City in the Sky. The Clawshot can be used to complete the first stage of the STAR Game in Hyrule Castle Town. The seceond clawshot, combining the two to create a Double Clawshot, is neccesary in order to complete the second stage of the game.
