Like in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask|Majora's Mask]]'', the Termina Map features a 72-hour countdown. Each time a stage is completed, one hour is subtracted and the moon grows closer. Once the countdown hits 0, the map is reset - all squares except the starting square, completed [[Owl Statue]] stages, and squares surrounding those stages are locked and the countdown returns to 72. Rewards and Item Cards received are not lost. Ranks achieved are also saved, so if a player previously unlocked a stage by achieving an "A" rank on an adjacent stage, the player would only need to complete that stage with any rank the next time around.
