During the walkthorugh for your first encounter with the spume it says there is no way to defeat it while like in this you can defeat it relativly easy by runing it over just thought I would mention it. Its on Earth Temple 5.1 Bomb Bag Skyward Sword walkthrough. By The Way great site lots of help keep up the great work. =)
