King of Hyrule: Difference between revisions

The King of Hyrule in ''Ocarina of Time'' is mentioned a few times during [[Link]]'s adventure. The King is never actually seen in-game, so his physical appearance is unknown. He is the father of [[Zelda|Princess Zelda]] and the sworn brother of the [[Goron]]'s patriarch [[Darunia]]. When Link first saw [[Ganon|Ganondorf]] through the window in the [[Castle Courtyard]], he bowed to the King of Hyrule and swore allegiance to him, though he actually had other intentions. Even though Ganon destroyed Hyrule Castle and its surroundings, it is alluded that the King of Hyrule is alive during the time Link is an adult, as a meaning inscribed on a platform just outside [[Zora's Domain]] reads:  ''The flow of this waterfall serves the King of Hyrule. When the King slumbers, so too do these falls.'' This suggests that the King of Hyrule is alive, otherwise, the sleepless waterfall would almost be dormant, so he must have fled before Ganon seized Hyrule.

In ''The Minish Cap'', the king of Hyrule is imprisoned and impersonated by the evil sorcerer Vaati, until being rescued by Link. Additionally, the phantom of a past king makes an appearance in order to impart prophecy and counsel to Link.
