While speculation on when production of the Wii U would end has run rampant since last fall, Nintendo has finally confirmed on January 31st that global production of the Wii U has ceased. The announcement was first made on Nintendo of Japan’s website, stating that production had ended in Japan. Nintendo of America later released a statement confirming “Wii U production has ended globally”. Between the impending release of the Nintendo Switch and the lackluster commercial performance of the Wii…

Breathe of the Wild has presented us with a massive world full of life and wonder, from giant, laser-shooting creatures to vast landscapes to evil monsters waiting to be hunted down. But something we have seen little to none of is people. Link, the Old Man, and in a way, the voice from the Resurrection Chamber are all Nintendo has shown us in terms of other signs of civilization. There will be towns and such later, but or all we…

Considering that we are nearly a month removed from E3 2016, I’m — admittedly — skirting the edge of timeliness here. Heck, I’m probably well past it. In any case, I had the opportunity to spend about half an hour with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at this year’s expo. Going into the show, Link’s next adventure was just about the only game on my mind. I mean, I was looking forward to other titles, but my…

E3 has come to a close, and we are pretty much overflowing with information on Breath of the Wild. There is a lot to go through, and a lot of streams and player demos have revealed sweet new details about the game to get excited for. But with so much to think about, what are you most hyped for? This week, the ZD team has taken a look at their favorite parts of this epic upcoming game, at least that…

With Nintendo recently revealing some information on the NX and what was long called Zelda U, there have been many mixed reactions from fans. Basically Zelda U won’t be Wii U exclusive, it will also be releasing on the NX. For me personally I don’t really care as I will be without a doubt purchasing both day one but for the fans out there who bought a Wii U mainly for the new Zelda game, then they may feel slightly…

We’re sorry, Zelda fans. Zelda U has been delayed again, as officially stated by Nintendo. It is no longer due for release this year, and will instead release simultaneously on both Wii U and NX in 2017.

Still, we now know that we will be getting the…

We are likely leading up to a brand new news update on Zelda Wii U soon. Tri Force Heroes is no long the center of attention, Hyrule Warriors’ new DLC and 3DS release have been fully detailed and are no longer big news, and of course, the 30th anniversary is coming up. It is finally time we heard more about this Wii U juggernaut (Subtitle, anyone?). That being said, many of us fans are still speculating on what we may…

Despite the release of not only Hyrule Warriors DLC, but also a new handheld entry in Tri Force Heroes, 2015 was relatively low-key for Zelda. As Jon discussed a couple of days ago, the highlight — if you can call it that — was just how little we heard about Zelda Wii U. Based solely on what we know right now, though, 2016 looks to be the series’ biggest year since 2011. Considering that it’s the franchise’s 30th anniversary, as…

It has been years on end since we have seen any sort of changing seasons in a Zelda title. Oracle of Seasons had clever use of the seasons in its puzzles and exploration, but after that, seasons were dropped as a mechanic, in favour of the often re-used idea of time travel. But what about Zelda Wii U? There is a good chance time travel could be used again in some aspect, but could seasons be re-introduced to this new,…

We in North America and Europe have had Ocarina of Time available in our eShops sice July, but Japan has only just recieved it today. This is rather odd, as Japan often gets a shot at Nintendo titles first. Either way, a new Japanese trailer has been uploaded to Nintendo of Japan’s YouTube channel, with some memorable moments from the early parts of the game. Check it out after the jump!
