Hey guys! New mailbag! Got a fair number of broad questions this time, covering wider topics relating to the series in general, but we’ve also got a pair of A Link to the Past questions this time, which is cool because we don’t see that a ton. Two Skyward Sword questions as well. And one that seems inspired by a joke I made on the Halloween mailbag! 11 questions in all. Enjoy! You can watch the video here or check…

On Introductions

A Link to the Past arguably had the best opening sequence not just of any Zelda game, but of any video game. It introduces the player to the controls, the lore, the world, and the level design, and does so seamlessly while pushing Link forward through a rapidly-progressing story. Several pivotal things happen in succession, but they all make sense and set the tone for what’s to come. It’s the fastest-moving section of the game, and not only did it…

I’ve talked a lot about Zelda remakes, in two separate videos about Operation Moonfall, and more recently in a video about whether we should have an A Link to the Past or Majora’s Mask remake. I’ve made it abundantly clear that I don’t personally enjoy the prospect of having a Zelda remake at all, and this extends further into my general distaste for remakes. When a remake pops up in a game series I’m not as involved in, I don’t…

Hey guys! Got a new video discussion and this is a topic I think some of you have been waiting for me to cover. I’ve received the question many times now: “Which would you rather Nintendo remake, A Link to the Past or Majora’s Mask?” I’d been avoiding answering because I’ve been planning this video. This video covers exactly that subject. It’s a detailed list of reasons why. I will not be covering my thoughts on Majora’s Mask 3D much…

Hey there guys. New mailbag, relatively on-time this week, and it should be like that in the coming weeks as well! This mailbag has 10 questions, several about Skyward Sword and Majora’s Mask, but also covering the series in general, and even a few talking about future games. Actually, I managed to make a few slip-ups in this mailbag, so be sure to read the annotations if you want to see me correct myself. Haha. Anyway, you can watch the…

This week’s music box is something a bit less modern sounding – the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra performing the Hyrule Castle theme from A Link to the Past. The song already had a very “epic” atmosphere in the game, and the arrangement these guys played magnifies that by a lot. This is definitely one of the best songs in a Zelda game, so you’ll really be missing out if you don’t hear this version – check it out after the…

Yesterday we reported that Shigeru Miyamoto was working on a new Zelda Game and today we have now received some potentially related news about a remake. The folks at Next-Gen recently got an interview with Miyamoto and he mentioned a possible remake of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the Nintendo 3DS. “I think A Link To The Past. Do you remember Xevious? It’s two-layered and I really wanted to create that at the time. So…

Kotaku has posted an article about a guy who has completely built the map of Hyrule from “The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”, in Minecraft. For those of you who are not familiar with this program, Minecraft essentially lets you play with “Legos” on your computer, building pretty much anything you can think of from blocks. You can then freely look throughout your creation by viewing from afar or exploring as if you were Link himself, visiting…

Perhaps one of the most argued topics in Zelda timeline debates today is the Seal War, also at times referred to as the Imprisoning War. Theorists often question if what was once the story of the Seal War has become something different or altered today. Players first learned of the Seal War in A Link to the Past, but since, Nintendo has made multiple efforts in altering or changing the story. However, no title thus far has taken place during…

So here it is, guys, the last Curiosity Shop before E3! Next week’s going to be one hell of a party, expect some big things! Until then, I’ll try to keep you satiated with some discussion videos. The questions and their timestamps are: (00:30) – You said you wanted less dungeons, but what if the dungeons were done well? (01:15) – What do you think is the hardest game in the series? (02:18) – Do you think Midna will be…
