This week’s music box is something a bit less modern sounding – the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra performing the Hyrule Castle theme from A Link to the Past.

The song already had a very “epic” atmosphere in the game, and the arrangement these guys played magnifies that by a lot. This is definitely one of the best songs in a Zelda game, so you’ll really be missing out if you don’t hear this version – check it out after the jump as usual.

Wow. This song really makes me want to get out there and save some princesses! It brings me back to the first time I played A Link to the Past when I was just a little kid, there was so much to explore and so much danger in that castle. Being fully orchestrated really adds to that feeling, and I’m definitely glad this is the direction that Nintendo is bringing Zelda – epic music makes for more epic adventures!

So what did you guys think of Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra playing A Link to the Past’s Castle theme? Do you know any other cool performances or covers of this song? Let us know in the comments
