We all know that many fans speculate the accuracy of the Official Zelda Timeline. Although I like to abide by its information, as we can see continuity between some titles, I do sort of wish that some of the timeline didn’t seem like a bunch of stories shoe-horned to fit into a specific place. Regardless of its flaws though, I love when Zelda games connect to each other, especially through the timeline. I love seeing the ruins of the Goddess Springs from Skyward Sword and a cameo from Fi in the Hyrule of Breath of the Wild, or the multiple appearances of iconic places like The Lost Woods or The Temple of Time in Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. However, the connections between games can be pretty ambiguous at other times, especially the drastic changes of locations of major landmarks like Hyrule Castle or Kakariko Village.

One thing I am most excited for in Tears of the Kingdom is that for once, we get to return to the same land of Hyrule that we have grown to love for the past few years, and there will be major continuity and connection between two Zelda titles. We don’t see this very often, but I am here for it. I am still holding onto hope that some of the story in this anticipated sequel will include some connections to earlier titles and legends in the Legend of Zelda universe. For example, maybe the sequel could include an appearance of a past incarnation of the hero of Hyrule (I would love to see the Hero of Time again) or a past Princess Zelda. I feel like some sort of connection to a previous appearance of Ganondorf will be necessary to explain who or what put his mummified corpse in the underground catacombs of Hyrule for thousands of years.

How about you? Would you like to see more connections and continuity between Zelda games? Let me know in the comments!
