The Zelda franchise is famous for many things, be it a hero clad in green, a quest to obtain the Triforce, or an enticing sense of adventure.  There are so many amazing recurring themes in these games and each one stands out for its own reason.  But if there is one predominant recurring element in Zelda games, it’s got to be time travel.

When I think of time travel in gaming, my mind goes straight to Ocarina of Time.  I remember how Link utilized the ocarina in order to save Hyrule and I can’t help but think about just how good that story-line was.  Of course, Majora’s Mask had such a similar theme, albeit with the twist of limited time.  Then there was Oracle of Ages, where Link traversed time through portals, which was pretty neat.  And Twilight Princess even offered us the chance to enjoy the Temple of Time in both its prime and in ruin!  Skyward Sword played around with time travel as well.  Link could make use of the Timeshift Stones and also use the Gate of Time to visit Hylia’s Realm.  I think it’s definitely fair to say that time travel makes for great gaming!  So, naturally, I would love to see it again!

I think Breath of the Wild 2 offers the perfect opportunity to utilize time travel.  It would be great to see Link travel back in time and to be able to see Hyrule as it was before the Calamity struck.  Just imagine how it flourished!  It would be amazing to visit even more towns and villages, and to see Hyrule Castle in all its glory.  Not only that, but it could also be the reason that we laid eyes on Ganondorf before his calamitous evolution, (as speculated by myself and others) in the trailer released at E3 2019.  I really hope to see a time travel element in the sequel to Breath of the Wild!
